Overdue Hurricane Dennis update

Last week, Hurricane Dennis loomed over our heads. On Thursday, we got word that we had to evacuate from Deming since it is "not a shelter." Of course, this sent me into a state of mild panic, mainly because, we had nowhere to go. Luckily, Jesse offered to house us for the weekend.

So we got picked up before noon and then we had lunch at King Buffet. We then went softball glove shopping since Neil and Jesse decided to throw a softball around. The day was wonderful and you wouldn't have guessed that there was a hurricane heading for us.



That evening, we had grilled bratwurst and pasta for dinner. Then we sat back to watch The Last Samurai. We'd all seen it before but it still was a good movie to watch, Tom Cruise nothwithstanding.



By the next morning, we were sure that the hurricane wasn't heading our way so we headed out for breakfast with Erin, Billy and Dalton at Shoney's. It was a nice breakfast. The guys tried to help Dalton win a plushie from the claw machine. Unfortunately, they weren't able to get the penguin they had their eyes on.

After breakfast, we headed out to a small playground and flew one of Jesse's kites. Since the wind was so strong, we all got rope burn from getting the kite into the air and from bringing it back down when it started to rain.



After a short afternoon nap, Thomas, Naeshia and the Horne's came over and we all played Trivial Pursuit, Pop Culture edition. It was fun. We found out that Neil's and my category is "Fads." We almost won. Just needed one question for the win. Not so bad :)

After the game, we all went back to our respective homes. It was a fun weekend.
