Post-wedding adventures
Here is the long-overdue retelling of the post-wedding activities.
Right after the wedding, Neil and I spent 2 nights at the EDSA Shangri-la hotel, courtesy of his parents. It was a nice room, overlooking Shangri-la mall. We had been so tired from the wedding that we woke up at almost noon on Sunday. We then had lunch at California Pizza Kitchen. We then walked around the mall a bit and watched King Arthur which was entertaining enough. After the movie, we headed back to the hotel and had dinner at the Japanese restaurant where we spent a lot of money but really enjoyed ourselves. That was where we picked up Moonie, our new stuffed-toy/funny puppy.
The next morning, Lola Inay and Mang Danny picked us up and we headed to Batangas where we had lunch. After lunch, Mang Danny dropped Neil and I off at Sonia's garden where we were to stay that night. It was a beautiful place. All white linens and flowers everywhere. We were serenaded at dinner and had breakfast overlooking the hillside. Tuesday noontime, Mom, Cissy, Neil's Dad, Mom, Lola and Tito Poy picked us up and we had lunch together in a new dining area of the garden. Really nice. We took our sweet time and finally left for Manila at around 4.
On Thursday, Neil, Yeo and I headed for Pangasinan early in the morning. We got there around 11 and had our "Catcechism class" in preparation for the Catholic Wedding. After lunch, we lounged around a bit and then had dinner. Buhay baboy... hehehe. The next day, we met with the parish priest, Neil received confession sacraments and then we had our family life seminar. It was all surprisingly OK. That afternoon, a whole troop of us headed for Manawag to pray to the blessed virgin. I think she heard our prayers, in spite of the pouring rains.
Saturday was the day of the Catholic wedding. It was a small, intimate ceremony and honestly, a lot of fun. It was so much more relaxed than the first wedding and we got to eat! The food was really good too. Must find out how to make that Seafood Waldorf. The only stress I experienced was from wondering whether Mom, Dad, Cissy and Omar would make it on time. They got caught in trafic and got to the church just before the appointed time. All in all though, it was really great.
We headed back to Manila the next morning before dawn, went to church at NCUC and then celebrated Tara's 18th birthday at Moses.
The next week was a bit more relaxed. We went out every-so-often with Mom or Cissy to lunch, or we picked up Yeo before heading out for isaw and stuff like that. On Thursday, we spent an evening at the Makati Shangri-la courtesy of Tito Mik and Tita P. This time, we had dinner at the Chinese restaurant which was not so great, in my opinion. But that might be because I really wasn't feeling too well. Probably exhausted from all the festivities. We then had a nice after dinner desert at the lobby. My treat (finally). The next morning, we had breakfast at the lobby (complimentary buffet!!) and then Mom and Cissy picked us up and we headed for Glorietta. We were supposed to look for a cedar chest for the wedding clothes but had no luck in finding any. We decided to just use my old baul to hold everything. That was what I bought it for in the first place. We then had lunch at Italliani's and shopped a bit more before heading home.
We then spent Friday night at Project 4. Just hanging out and waiting for Neil's Mom and Dad to arrive to plan for the next morning.
On Saturday, we were off to Batangas for the last hoorah. We were to have the big lunch handaan in thanksgiving for the wedding and Cissy's passing the architecture boards. It was a riot. So many people. Neil even got snagged by the mang-iinom to sit and have a drink with them. After things settled down, we spent our time by the beach, just watching the sea. Neil, Yeo, Lianne, Pam, and CJ headed out into the water at sunset. Since the tide was low, they found some sea urchins on the rocks, picked them up and opened them for us to eat. They were quite good. After dinner, the Bascos-David contigent headed back to Manila while we stayed over for the night.
Well, I guess that's more or less the whole story. Neil and I left for New Orleans the next week (on a 32-hour trip, where, upon arriving at Dallas, I got quite sick) and we've been here since then, toiling away in the lab :P
